ALBANY PROGRAMS
The
New York State Assembly
Session Intern Program and the New
York State Senate Session Assistants Program offer full-time, semester
long undergraduate internships. The New York State Assembly Graduate Scholars
Program runs from the spring semester through the summer. The New York
State Senate Graduate Fellowship Program operates for a full academic
year. Each of these internship programs include awards to cover cost
of living expenses for students while residing in Albany. Further, CUNY
students who participate in the Assembly and Senate undergraduate internship
programs receive supplementary awards from CUNY to cover additional
costs such as tuition for the semester. The Albany internship programs
enable students from CUNY to experience the practical dimensions of New
York State government and legislative politics from both the inside and
outside. Students who participate in the New York State Assembly and Senate
Programs perform substantive work such as research on state legislation,
assistance in drafting bills, constituent service and other legislative
tasks. All of the Albany internship programs include an academic component
that is intended to enhance student understanding of the politics and
process of legislation in the State of New York.
