NEW YORK CITY INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
The
New York City Internship Program in Government and Public Affairs
is a graduate and undergraduate program. The program is coordinated by
the Edward T. Rogowsky Internship Program and operates on all senior CUNY
college campuses, Borough of Manhattan Community College, Bronx Community
College, LaGuardia Community College and Queensborough Community College.
Internship faculty on each campus provide the intern with guided and rigorous
academic course work to facilitate a theoretically grounded, yet practical
understanding of New York City government and public affairs. Students
are placed throughout the five boroughs, in governmental and non-governmental
organizations. They are thereby able to gain desired work habits, develop
networks, and further pursue their career interests. Because the internships
are meant to focus on policy making in the public sector, the program
and its Campus Faculty Coordinators (CFC)
designate placements that enable students to gain substantive learning
experiences. All majors may apply, however, eligibility and academic requirements
vary at each campus. Eligible students may register for the internship
seminar and earn academic credit. The internship runs for the length of
the fall and spring semesters and includes attendance at the CUNY
Forum, a panel discussion broadcast on CUNY-TV(Channel
75, NYC-TV) on a different policy issue each month of the semester.
